# What is Katara?

Katara is governed AI infrastructure for organizations that need to use AI without losing control of data, tools, permissions, or audit evidence.

The platform sits between the AI tools people already use and the enterprise systems that need oversight. Katara applies policy, traceability, and access control so AI adoption can move forward with evidence instead of guesswork.

## Why governance matters

The AI an organization cannot govern is hard to defend. Regulated teams need to know which sources were used, which policies applied, what tools were called, and what evidence remains after an interaction.

Katara is built for that control plane. It helps teams adopt AI while keeping the work inside approved boundaries.
